RAILS TO TRAILS

Some portions of the line are used for bike trails. It is hoped that the Tariffville section will eventually become a bike trail. This idea is proposed by the Town of Simsbury, as well as the Farmington Valley Greenway and the Eastern Greenway (the Maine to Florida bikeway) and is supported by the Tariffville Village Association.

There are several thoughts for bike paths into Tariffville.

The most ambitious would be to use the old right-of-way and connect from the existing bike path in Simsbury and cross the Farmington River at the site of the old bridge and then through the path that goes behind Governors Bridge Condominiums and then through Tariffville Park to Main Street Extension.

A less ambitious project would go from the soccer field along Route 315, but separate, and then cut down behind the wells and finally behind the Governors Bridge Condominiums and then through Tariffville Park to Main Street Extension.
