Terry Salls is being recognized for her decades of volunteerism in Tariffville.
From 1966-69, and from 1972-74, Terry was the leader of Girl Scout Troop 217 where, over the years, she touched hundreds of young lives. From 1969 to 1971 she led Cadette Troup 50 which included girls from East Granby. In 1976
Terry was instrumental in starting the Tariffville Community Association, which started many of the events continued in town to this day such as the Halloween Parade and working with the Fire Department to beautify the town.
Terry's long involvement with the Tariffville Volunteer Fire Department began when she joined and was instrumental in starting the Women's Auxillary. The Auxillary was there to support the Fire Fighters by providing hot coffee and food after a difficult fire or rescue, and also raised funds with their own tag sales and spaghetti suppers. They marched with the Fire Fighters and won many trophies. They worked with the Fire Fighters in all their fundraising activities including dances and chicken barbecues.
Terry remains extremely active in her community. She is currently the Treasurer of The Tariffville Village Association. Her unselfish cheerful ability to volunteer her time to Tariffville makes the award of Tariffville Citizen of the year a well earned award.
Terry has photographes and memorabelia from her volunteer days and hopes you will come to the Festival to share memories.
